Happy Towel Day! (The awesome power of reading)

I’m a Hitchhikers fan.

I have read the books, watched the origional TV series, listened to the audio books and watched the new film. Possibly even in that order.

The Hitchhikers Guide is definitely one of those mind altering books that can somehow make the world make more sense,  Or perhaps less sense, but leaving you more accepting of it.

To come across a book that seems to make sense of the world, without it being a self help book, is incredibly rare.  At least I haven’t come across many.

It’s a funny thing to think that the power of a book would have this affect on anyone,  but this is why reading can be so magical and so rewarding.

The Hitchhikers Guide is paper bound proof of the awesome power of reading and this is one of the many many reasons why everyone should read it.

So in recognition of the importance of national towel day I’m leaving you with one of my favourite quotes.

“Perhaps I’m old and tired, but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied.”

I would love to hear your favourite quote, or any books that have quite literally changed your life.
